Unconditional Love in Sonnet 130

This sonnet written by Shakespeare has a theme of unconditional love.  The speaker compares his lover to other beauties, except there comparisons are never in favor of his mistress. The speaker says “her eyes are nothing like the sun,” her lips are not bright red, her breasts are dark compared to snow and her hair is black and wiry. In her cheeks there is no color and her breath is far from delightful. Her voice is not pleasing though the speaker admits that he has never seen such a goddess. The speaker thinks this love is rare and true. Despite all the ugly qualities he chooses to love his mistress unconditionally. The speaker can see her true beauty within and not the ugly hair, or colorless cheeks can turn him away from her. She is a thing of beauty to him. This is love in its purest form and shows the beauty of unconditional love.
